Learn the Facts
NO TAX INCREASE • LISD has lowered rates every year since 2018

2025 Bond Facts

Will this Bond cause a tax increase?
NO! Actually, LISD has lowered the rate every year since 2018. This bond can be issued without increasing your tax burden.
What will the money be used for?
Construction of a new middle school and purchase of land for future schools, only. Every dollar goes directly to building facilities for our students.
Why not purchase more portable buildings?
Student and Staff Safety. Also, taking away from the M&O (Maintenance and Operations) budget causes hits to salaries, student services and needed supplies. Permanent facilities are safer and more cost-effective long-term.
Why has LISD called for a Bond?
Growth. Lockhart has only one current Middle School which has reached over 95% capacity. When a campus exceeds 85% capacity it means utilization of ALL resources, including those not designed for their current use.

Why This Matters Now

Overcrowding Crisis
Our single middle school is at 95% capacity - well beyond the 85% threshold where all resources become strained. Students deserve proper learning environments.
Safety First
Permanent facilities are safer than temporary portables. Purpose-built classrooms provide better learning environments and emergency preparedness.
Future Planning
Land acquisition now secures space for future growth. Waiting means higher costs and fewer options as Lockhart continues to expand.
Financial Responsibility
No tax increase required. LISD's responsible financial management allows for this investment without burdening taxpayers.
